A Top End footy club has deregistered three of their players and suspended a fourth from club activities after they engaged in a brawl in the Darwin city centre.

A Darwin footy club has deregistered three of their players for their involvement in a brawl on a busy street in the CBD.

Tracy Village Football Club players threw punches at each other as a brawl broke out on Mitchell St on March 2 after alleged tensions on player selections.

Footage of the incident has since been shared online, and showed at least six men throwing punches and shoving each other across the road from the Tap Bar.

The club deregistered three of the players involved in the altercation with immediate effect following a thorough internal investigation.

Another member has been suspended from all club related activities for an extended period of time for his involvement in the fight.

The club released a statement on their Facebook page stating the club had acted to uphold their values and code of conduct after an extensive investigation.

“The Tracy Village Football Club would like to reiterate that we do not condone aggressive or violent behaviour,” the statement read.

“We remain committed to fostering a safe, inclusive and positive environment for all our members.”

The Tracy Village Football Club confirmed on their social media channels they were aware of the incident on March 2, and said they were conducting a thorough investigation.

“Our club operates under a strict Code of Conduct that applies to all players, officials and supporters,” the statement read.

“The club denounces any form of aggressive or violent behaviour both on and off the field.

“Pending the outcome of this investigation, appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken in accordance with our Code of Conduct.

“Tracy Village Football Club provides a safe and welcoming space for all members and takes pride in fostering an inclusive and family-orientated environment.

“All individuals involved in the incident will be suspended from participating in NTFL competitions until the conclusion of the investigation.”

NT Police have been contacted for comment. No arrests or charges have been laid.
