NT Cricket is building momentum and a multi-year partnership with a brand synonymous with the Australian sport aims to strengthen pathways.

The sporting body has welcomed Kookaburra as an official partner in a multi-year agreement to strengthen cricket across the Northern Territory.

Kookaburra is 100 per cent Australian owned and operated and is still led by members of the Thompson family, after AG Thompson founded the brand in 1890.

The partnership aims to support cricketers of all levels, with the brand becoming the naming rights sponsor of the Kookaburra Junior Strike League and the Kookaburra Inter-State Challenge.

The Strike League is NT Cricket’s leading junior program for pathway players, providing a platform for skill development, team performance and talent identification

The Inter-State Challenge brings together emerging boys’ and girls’ teams from the NT, SA and NSW in a multi-day competition held annually in Darwin.

NT Cricket will exclusively use Kookaburra balls for flagship events including Cricket 365 (Top End T20 Series), Kookaburra Junior Strike League, Kookaburra Inter-State Challenge and the Imparja Cup.

NT Cricket chief executive Gavin Dovey said he was thrilled to partner with a brand synonymous with cricket in Australia.

“We’re entering an incredible phase of growth here in the NT both at the grassroots community level all the way up to the return of international cricket for the first time in 17 years,” he said.

“There is no doubt when people think Kookaburra in Australia, they think cricket, so this is an exciting new partnership for us that reflects a new era.”

Kookaburra general manager David Orchard said the partnership reflected the brand’s commitment to cricket development from the ground up.

“Kookaburra Sport is proud to partner with NT Cricket in fostering the growth of the game across the Territory.

“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to supporting grassroots development, nurturing local talent, and building strong cricketing communities for the future.”
