Up to 1500 families flocked to Darwin’s Waterfront on Saturday morning to experience a tropical Easter with the lot.
Jumping castles and fairy face painting combined with Easter egg hunts and energy-sapping humidity to make Easter 2023 a memorable event.
Lucy Nascimento and partner Ben Tschirpig enjoyed the full Easter experience with their children Alex, 4 and Abigail, 2.
“The kids love Easter,” Lucy said.
“The bunnies and the chocolate, it's a real highlight for them.
“They had fun in the jumping castle, played twister then had a go in the activity tent with the circus equipment.
“We always try and get out to these community events.
“They’re free, are always good fun and just a really great day out.”
And the Waterfront was only the beginning for the Coconut Grove mob.
After a quick lunch the family-of-four went to the circus before an evening meal at the Sailing Club.
Waterfront events and marketing co-ordinator Yasmine Welsh said families were given a free passport loaded with freebies and directions for the kiddies to find Easter eggs.
“We didn’t know how things were going to go with the tropical low above us, but it was a beautiful morning,” she said.
“The kids had a ball with the tip-top circus, egg and spoon races and sack races.
“There was something for everybody and it was a great time for everybody.”
To stop them from melting, chocolate eggs were stored in ice before being eaten.
