NT Parks and Wildlife have closed a popular Top End swimming spot following multiple unconfirmed sightings of a crocodile.
The crocodile was spotted multiple times at Bitter Springs on Wednesday.
It is currently unknown if it’s a freshwater or saltwater crocodile, but it is believed to be about 2m.
The waterhole will be closed while rangers conduct surveys of the site as per the Crocodile Risk Management Plan.
The nearby Mataranka Thermal Pool is still open for swimming.
The springs have been closed multiple times due to crocodile sightings with one popping up in November, 2024 and another caught on camera last April.
