The Finocchiaro CLP Government is promising a July 1 Territory Day celebration that reflects the Territory “pride, resilience, and spirit of our unique lifestyle.”

Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro said she is proud to have delivered on the election commitment to ensure Territory Day fireworks will continue being held at Mindil Beach – “where they belong”.

Fireworks displays will be hosted at 21 locations across the Territory, with signature events including:

Darwin: Alongside the Mindil beach sunset markets from 4pm, the program is bigger than ever featuring circus workshops with Fringe star Dr Rubes, a silent disco, roving entertainers, live music and more, ending with a huge beachside fireworks display.

Alice Springs: At ANZAC Oval, even bigger fireworks are promised along with live entertainment and a new family-friendly area with heaters, kids’ activities and food stalls.

Katherine: At the showgrounds, expect market stalls, food vendors, fireworks and Brisbane ‘stomp and holler’ country music band ‘The Wet Whistles’ will take the stage.

Tennant Creek: There’ll be plenty of live music to celebrate the occasion, with Eleanor Jawurlngali performing with her trio band, Patsy Coleman and the Work Camp Band.

Minister for Major Events and Tourism and Hospitality Marie-Clare Boothby said Territory Day was a celebration of the Territory’s proud identity and strong community spirit.

“Territory Day is one of the most unifying and uplifting events on our calendar. It’s a time for families, friends and communities to come together and celebrate who we are,” said Ms Boothby.

“From major centres to remote towns, the night will be filled with local events, community spirit, and of course, fireworks lighting up the skies right across the NT.

“Whether you’re watching fireworks with family, lighting up the night sky, or enjoying a local community event, we hope everyone has a fun and safe Territory Day.

“If you’re celebrating at home with your own fireworks, please do so safely and follow the advice of authorities, who will be out on the night working hard to keep us all safe.”
