Today, exclusively on ntnews.com.au, we count down numbers 60-41, where you might find some big surprises.
There was a lot of water cooler chatter on Friday about a few of our choices.
Number 66 — the NIMBYs — surely got the tongues wagging.
But, in truth, we could easily have put them a lot higher on The List.
Often thought to largely inhabit the areas of Nightcliff and Rapid Creek, the NIMBYs have been exerting their undeniable power this year, bringing to a crushing end a proposal to rebuild the burnt down Darwin RSL next to the Cenotaph.
Every once in a while the NIMBYs have some reasonable points about stopping or slowing development, but it seems that on a lot of occasions the garden NT variety’s protestations are plain wankerism. And yet ... they manage to stop a lot of stuff from ever getting off the ground. Go figure!
By the way, how good is the Nightcliff Cafe? Or the lights at The Gardens, Bagot and Nightcliff ovals?
Anyway ... on to today’s power brokers.
