A COUPLE has been hospitalised after their car, and the caravan it was towing, rolled multiple times after a wind gust caused them to lose control on the Stuart Highway.

Southern Watch Commander Shaun Furniss said a car towing a caravan heading south rolled over about 5km north of Elliot on the Stuart Hwy after a strong gust of wind caused them to lose control.
“A gust of wind pushed the Holden utility and caravan to the right into the north-bound lane, (they) over corrected and (the) vehicle went off the left side of the road down an embankment,” he said.
“The combination rolled over more than once.”
Snr Sgt Furniss said the driver and passenger were both taken to hospital as a result of the incident.
“(The) male driver sustained a large laceration to his head and the 70-year-old female passenger sustained bruising,” he said.

“Both were conveyed to the local clinic and then Tennant Creek hospital.”
Their injuries are not considered life threatening.
