RSPCA Tasmania CEO Andrew Byrne to step down in March

RSPCA Tasmania has announced CEO Andrew Byrne is stepping down from the role.
“After an esteemed career with the RSPCA, Dr Andrew Byrne is moving on to pursue his other passion - veterinary practice,” the animal welfare group said in a statement.
Dr Byrne has had a long association with the RSPCA in Australia and relocated to Tasmania in 2016.
“During Andrew’s tenure as chief vet and CEO he has been a passionate advocate for animals,” the RSPCA said.
“He has been influential and authoritative in advocating for animal welfare law changes and protecting Tasmanian animals in most need.”

Dr Byrne is making a sea change and has purchased a vet surgery in St Helens, on Tasmania’s East Coast, where he plans to continue working as a vet until retirement.
Dr Byrne leaves the RSPCA at the end of March.
