A COLLECTIVE of interstate and local musicians will band together on Friday night, helping to celebrate Darwin as the home of live music post-coronavirus.
Darwinning curator Nick Cooper said he was looking forward to performing his DJ set as DJ Relaxative, alongside local acts the Ovulators and Miss Frida, having fled south to keep himself in work.
“I was basically an out-of-work DJ. I’m a full-time DJ in Melbourne before COVID, so I struck upon the opportunity to explore Australia. I’m grateful to be here as I’ve had two borders close behind me,” he said.
“It’s a celebration of the fact everyone has done so well and is in such great spirits and has done the right thing.
“As a result they are able to enjoy arts up here together, and it seems to me they’re all thriving.”
Mr Cooper said recent music festivals at the Darwin Ski Club had proven Darwin was Australia’s new home of live music, and musicians were embracing the opportunity to perform.
