A MAN has been taken to hospital with serious head injuries after his car crashed into trees in Darwin’s rural area this morning.

Northern Watch Commander Andrew Heath said the collision was reported to police about 1am on Friday morning.

“A Mazda sedan has left the road and collided with a number of trees,” he said.

“The 25-year-old male driver was extracted from the vehicle and conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital with significant head injuries.

“We’re not sure what quite happened there but obviously speed was a factor.”
