A YOUTH has been arrested while Police have their eyes on a number of others after damaged cars and an assault in Darwin’s north on Tuesday.

NT Police Northern Watch Commander Greg Pusterla said Police received a number of calls on Tuesday afternoon about a group of youths damaging cars and throwing rocks near Casuarina Library.

“I can tell you at least three cars were reported damaged along with a motor scooter and a person was assaulted,” he said.

“A 14-year-old-male remains in custody and he will be charged later this morning with engaging in violent conduct, assault and allegedly spitting in the face of an arresting police officer.”

A man, 57, was assaulted by the 14-year-old but did not suffer any injuries.

The boy has been charged with three counts of criminal damage, engaging in violent conduct, disorderly behaviour in public place, aggravated assault and assaulting a member of the police force and will appear in court today.

An 11-year-old was also arrested but was left in the care of a responsible adult.

Further youths that have been identified by NT Police as persons of interest and investigations will be continuing.
