MAKEUP hysteria has hit central Hobart with the Myer forecourt transformed into a sea of screaming young fans desperate to catch a glimpse of YouTube celebrity Michael Finch.
Perfectly preened teenagers lined up outside Myer’s Liverpool St entrance in the cold pre-dawn hours to see the YouTube sensation.
By the time the makeup artist made his appearance, about 11am, there was about 300 screaming fans filming Finch with their smartphones.
“We’ve been waiting here since 4am,” said Lucy Marley, 15, from Hobart.
Lucy and her friends, 16-year-old Ebony Piuselli and 16-year-old Kat Brock, had huddled in faux fur coats until taking to the stage for a photo with Finch.
“I was shaking and I teared up for the photo,” Lucy said.
Kat said she had learned a lot of makeup tips from Finch.
“The most important one was how to do my eyebrows,” she said.
The 22-year-old Australian makeup artist has hundreds of thousands of followers of his makeup tutorials on his YouTube channel “makeupbymichaelfinch”.
Finch said he was thrilled so many had turned out for the Hobart leg of his Australian tour.
“It’s insane,” he said.

When asked for the top makeup tip he could impart on Hobart, Finch said: “always bake your concealer”.
The process does not involve literal baking, but involves makeup setting powder for a “flawless finish”.
Hobart was the last stop on his nationwide tour to promote his Benefit Cosmetics brow style. Organisers said it had been his biggest turn out yet.
