Election 2019: Flynn LNP candidate Ken O’Dowd ahead of Zac Beers, exclusive poll shows

It’s one of the key do-or-die battlegrounds in this year’s federal election and, with just two days to go until the nation votes, one of the two major parties has made a significant step towards claiming the seat of Flynn, our exclusive poll shows.

THE LNP has significantly edged ahead of Labor in the political do-or-die seat of Flynn off the back of right-leaning minor parties.

The LNP’s Ken O’Dowd is ahead 53-47 on two-party-preferred terms, exclusive YouGov Galaxy polling reveals.

The survey, taken on Monday and Tuesday, will rattle Labor, which had banked on stealing the Central Queensland seat by using two-time candidate Zac Beers.

Since 2016, the primary vote for the major parties has barely budged, despite Labor bombarding the electorate and the LNP sandbagging the marginal seat.

One in three voters plan to shun the major parties and park their support behind independents and The Greens.

More than one-in-10 voters say they will support Clive Palmer’s United Australia Party, which has done a preference deal with the LNP.

The UAP did not run in 2016 but has now secured 11 per cent of the primary vote.

One Nation is down 10 points to 7 points, revealing Pauline Hanson has lost a massive amount of support to Mr Palmer.

The Greens are steady on about 3 per cent compared to their 2016 results.

It comes as the electorate is desperate for jobs and has been fighting hard to get Adani off the ground.

The survey was also taken at the height of the scandal engulfing a Gladstone Ports worker suspended after asking Bill Shorten a question.

Today, The Courier-Mail reveals the Crime And Corruption Commission has been referred the worker’s suspension.
