The court heard phone taps revealed Pearson had continued to source drugs after she was busted at Darwin Airport with the 12g of meth from her supplier in Adelaide on November 11 last year.

In sentencing Pearson to three years and six months in jail, suspended after nine months, Justice Judith Kelly said there was “no doubt whatsoever you were running a drug dealing business”.

“As soon as the police let you go, after they seized the methamphetamine, you were straight on your phone to your suppliers and you organised to be supplied with more drugs for your supply business,” she said.

“You had established connections to a number of suppliers and you had an established customer base.”

After Pearson’s arrest, police recorded a phone conversation in which she told another woman she was “packing up and going”.

“I’ll just keep getting it adjourned and go,” she said.

Justice Kelly noted Pearson had not co-operated with police by fingering her supplier in Adelaide and had shown “no sign that you are at all remorseful”.

“Indeed, in your conversation with a friend, you proposed fleeing the jurisdiction, which argues otherwise,” she said.

“Though, I do take into account that that was just talk — you did not do it.”
