BIRTHDAY suits will be mandatory at a 30-year celebration of a Tablelands social nudist club.
About 60 people from New Zealand, Victoria, NSW and the Far North will strip off for the Barrier Reef Sun Club masquerade party tomorrow.
Member Dave Burley said the evening would be full of food music and dancing and was a chance to appreciate the hard work that had gone into the club.
“The nudist community, while it’s not large, has a network which runs all over Australia,” he said.
“We’ve even had members of the clergy come along with their wives.
“When your clothes are off we’re all equal,” said another member Lillian Allen.
“If you go to a dinner, someone might have an outfit from an expensive boutique, I might have something from Kmart, but here we’re all equal.”
The club started off when a group of regulars to Buchan Point became friends and started hosting monthly nude gatherings at each other’s homes.
When numbers grew too large a member offered the 1.2ha site near Koah which is now Barrier Reef Sun Club’s headquarters.
