Live music, arts and craft, food trucks and activities by the sea: It almost sounds too good to be true — but it absolutely is.

For just its second year, MAGNIFY — a fusion of art, beats and food — is set to take over the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) on April 5 from 3pm to 8pm.

Curated by emerging young producers and supported by City of Darwin’s LAUNCH youth program and MAGNT, the event will feature free art workshops, live painting, interactive performances, a maker’s market and more.

As the festivities extend into the evening, affordable food trucks, music and other experiences will be on offer as well.

Young people aged 15 years and older are invited to make their way down to the event.

Amelia Daroch, the event’s co-ordinator, said she was excited to get the event underway.

“We’re looking forward to meeting all the creative artists and the facilitators involved with the event, and we’re definitely excited as well because this is only our second year running the event,” she said.

“We really encourage anyone from the community to come down and get involved, whether that’s in the art space or if they want to support local businesses.

“This is a new event so we really appreciate people coming in and checking it out.

“That’s the theme of MAGNIFY: Magnifying young people and their talents.”

LAUNCH trainee Monei Kraisang said he hoped there would be plenty of young people and creatives — new and returning — at the event.

“It’s all about celebrating the creativity and drive of young people in all fields — whether it’s art, photography, music,” he said.

“It’s showing that there are young people in Darwin doing great things.

“I’m really keen because I missed last year’s one.

“I’m super excited to see all of Darwin’s creative people all in one place and seeing who shows up.”
