A young swim coach accused of sexually assaulting 10 girls today stared fixedly ahead in his first court appearance since his latest victims, two seven-year-olds, came forward alleging he abused them while teaching at Mosman Swim Centre.
Clean-cut Kyle Daniels, a former Knox Grammar School prefect, sat beside his mother Janine in the public gallery of room one of Manly Local Court today as his case was adjourned to Downing Centre Local Court on June 20 for service confirmation and to allow the prosecution to serve the brief of evidence.
Nodding as magistrate Michelle Goodwin adjourned the hearing, Daniels, 20, clutched a book entitled A Man’s Search For Meaning by Viktor Frankl, while his mother, a neuroscience coach, placed a reassuring hand on his thigh.

Daniels, a university student who lives in Balgowlah, is accused of sexually abusing his students at Mosman Swim Centre, on Sydney’s lower north shore.
The confident coach, who is studying for a masters in sports science at the University of Sydney, faces a total of 36 sex abuse charges including the fresh charges, which include abusing two seven-years-olds who came forward to police last month.
One charge of indecent assault was laid involving a seven-year-old on April 10 and four charges of sexual intercourse involving a separate girl, seven, were laid on April 4.
Kyle Daniels was charged over incidents police report unfolded at the swim centre between January 1, 2018 and March 2 this year, while he was employed as a swimming teacher.
The allegations include sexual intercourse with a child under 10, intentionally sexually touch a child under 10 and the indecent assault of a person under 16.
According to court documents the reported offences began in January 2018, when Daniels allegedly indecently assaulted a 10-year-old girl.
He is accused of having sexual intercourse with a seven-year-old girl eight times within three weeks.
Police also allege Daniels, originally from South Africa, was still committing sexual offences until 10 days before he was arrested.
The allegations against Daniels led police to hold an information night on March for concerned parents on the city’s north shore asking for reassurance.
Daniels was employed at Sydney’s Ravenswood School for Girls before becoming a swim coach at Mosman.
The school maintains it has not received any complaints against him.
Last month, a Mosman Swim Centre internal memo emerged spelling out three key rules for instructors.
“It is extremely important that we are aware and using the correct technique to hold and interact with children,” the memo reads.
“1. Do not hold children close to the groin and/or chest area.”
It also states coaches should always have their hands above water and in an “appropriate” position on their bodies and urges instructors not to position themselves behind the children.
Today Daniels remained steadfastly tight-lipped as he left court escorted by his father, an advertising executive, and mother.
He must report daily to Manly Police Station.
His bail conditions also state he must not seek paid or voluntary work that would bring him into contact with anyone under 16, must not work as a swimming instructor or lifeguard or contact his alleged victims.
He must not take part in waterspouts where children present, visit pools, playgrounds or video arcades.
