A 46-year-old man has been arrested after his female partner was fatally stabbed with an edged weapon in Lajamanu.
An NT Police spokesperson said a large crowd had gathered around the local clinic where the seriously injured 42-year-old woman had been taken about 6.20pm Monday.
The spokesperson said police attended the scene and the woman was declared deceased shortly after.
They said the woman’s partner was arrested nearby after being assaulted by unknown community members and remained in custody.
The spokesperson said the man had suffered non-life threatening injuries.
They said a crime scene had been established in each location and the man would likely be charged on Tuesday evening.
The spokesperson said the Major Crime unit was investigating the incident.
