Veteran radio star Bianca Dye has opened up about her “sisterhood” with rival presenter Robin Bailey, following the former’s KIIS breakfast program getting the axe last week.

Dye went on the breakfast trio hosted by Bailey, Corey Oates and Kip Wightman on Tuesday and broke down how their intertwined radio history has transformed them into fond friends rather than intense rivals.

After Bailey was dumped from KIIS FM’s breakfast program in 2016, Dye took her place – hosting the show for three years before being cut from the program herself in 2019.

Bailey returned to take back her place on KIIS’ breakfast program before being ultimately axed again last week, given an eight-week notice before hanging up the headphones.

The departing breakfast host said that even though it’s easy to imagine animosity between them, they instead have a deep friendship.

Dye returned the compliment, talking about how special their friendship is during a time of desperately competing radio stations.

“We get each other. I’ve had 32 years in radio for myself – 33 for Robin – and it’s so I feel I’ve never felt the sisterhood be more strong,” Dye said.

She also said how Bailey consistently reached out to her, even on the day of her show being axed.

“I’m going to miss you all. You’re amazing. And the day Robin finds out that this show is ending, she’s messaging me, checking in on me and how I’m going on the Golden Bachelor saying, ‘you’re amazing and you’re such a strong woman’,” Dye said.

Despite speculation that Dye would keep the cycle spinning by hosting the replacement breakfast program, nobody on the show mentioned any ideas of the timeslot’s future.

KIIS’s parent company ARN is expected to reveal the trio’s replacements during its Upfronts event on Wednesday afternoon.

It is understood that no current or former radio personalities have publicly hinted at taking over the KIIS breakfast slot, but several names have already been floated by industry insiders.
