Wagga Wagga City Council is asking residents to vote and help decide which new playground design is best for the neighbourhood.
The council is overhauling the playground for Uranquinty residents and travellers located at the rest area on the Olympic Highway.
Wagga Council parks and recreation strategic asset planner, Ben Creighton, said that it was really important to have community involvement and input in these decisions.
“Council at the moment is undertaking community consultation in regards to the redevelopment of a new playground at Uranquinty rest area which is just off the highway,” he said.
“The process that we are using is that we are getting different providers to provide options within out budget, we then put those options out to the community and they can vote on which one best suits that area.
“We have been doing this for every playground renewal that we do, and council have an adopt-a-playground strategy which was adopted in 2016 and it sets out all our replacement program for every playground in the city, which is now over 100.
“As part of the strategy we are making sure the community has significant input into actually determining in which design gets ultimately constructed.
The budget for the new playground is $40,000 and Mr Creighton said the three rendered options are a definite idea of what the playground would look like.
“We have had an enormous number of people submitting their votes already, which is really great and its something that the community has really taken up in recent years through this process and we always get a lot of feedback on the playgrounds,” Mr Creighton said.
“It is great families can have a look online and choose which playground they would like the best, and we really need the communities help in deciding.”
The playground designs encourage play between younger and older children and incorporate exciting features that will add extra appeal to the neighbourhood.
Residents are asked to select their favourite design from the three options by 5pm on December 6.
