A special red-top bin collection service will occur on Sunday for Brisbane City Council homes.

Residents who did not receive their collection on Thursday and Friday are advised to put their red-top bins out so they can be collected.

Council’s contractor have warned it may not be possible to collect every bin.

The special service will require 175,000 collections in a single day.

Bins that aren’t picked up during the special Sunday service will be collected on their regular collection day next week.

Regular collections of all bins, including yellow and green bins, will restart on Monday.

Residents can check their collection day through the bin collection calendar.

For residents seeking to clean up after Tropical Cyclone Alfred, BCC’s four Resource Recovery Centres will reopen on Sunday.

Green waste drop-off remains free until further notice.
