A lone vandal has gone on a rampage across an affluent Gold Coast suburb, slashing tyres, graffitiing cars and a business.
The man, who appears to be aged in his early 20s, was caught on CCTV riding his bike through several Mermaid Waters streets about 1.15am on Thursday as he unleashed.
University student Lilly Xu didn’t know her car had been damaged until she left for class about 9am.
“The steering wheel was jerking and it was like thudding” Ms Xu said.
“All my tyres had holes- they were slashed.”
The 19-year-old’s BMW hatchback is one of many cars in her street that were targeted.
“Why would they do something like this?” Ms Xu said.
“Are they jealous because of a nice area?
“Seriously, they need to get a life.”
The vandal was carrying a blue spray can which he used to damage other cars along, Avanti Street and Glenelg Ave.
A black Mercedes sedan had paint sprayed across its logo.
Other residents had offensive words sprayed out the front of their homes.
The offender then struck at a business on Northview Street, not far from Pacific Fair shopping centre, where he graffitied the entrance with vulgar messages and damaged equipment.
Tow trucks had been called in to collect damaged vehicles so they could be repaired.
The man appears to have been wearing a cap, with a light coloured high-vis jacket and was carrying a backpack.
Residents have filed reports with police.
