UFO sightings: Locations of every Gold Coast sighting revealed

Long before they started appearing in the skies over the US and Canada in recent weeks, the Gold Coast had a reputation as a hotspot for unidentified flying objects. HERE’S WHY:

THE appearance of mysterious objects above the US and Canada in the past week has sparked renewed interest in UFOs across the world.

Speculation was rife the objects were otherworldly but this has been denied by the White House.

The Gold Coast has long been a hot spot for unidentified flying objects during the 2010s with 23 reported sightings in the decade leading up to 2019.

Australia’s premier UFO research group has kept tabs on the goings on in the skies above the Glitter Strip, with many sightings, both recent and historical reported each year.

UFO Research Queensland president Sheryl Gottschall previously told the Bulletin why the Gold Coast attracted so many sightings.

“The Gold Coast is a tourist city and has a different kind of society and lifestyle there than what people in Brisbane might,” she said in 2020.

Seeing a UFO is a close encounter of the first kind. Physical evidence lifts the rating to the second kind, while contact is a close encounter of the third kind.

It was nearly 25 years ago in September 1998 when Oswald Raeder photographed what appeared to be a flying saucer over the Dolphin Arcade in Surfers Paradise.
