Two people have been charged by police after an alleged joy ride in a stolen Mercedes came to an abrupt end on the Gold Coast.

It’s alleged the luxury car was stolen during a break and enter on Marine Parade, Miami early on Tuesday morning.

“Around 9.30am, police were called to Mudgeeraba Road and Worongary Road following a report that a Mercedes-Benz had crashed,” a Queensland Police Service (QPS) spokesman told the Bulletin.

“Upon arrival, police located a female occupant in the vehicle, while a male occupant is alleged to have fled the scene.”

It’s understood the vehicle had lost control, ploughing into a guard rail before crashing into trees.

A number of officers including the dog squad responded to the crash, with police alleging they discovered drug utensils in the vehicle.

A 43-year-old Nerang woman was charged with unlawful use of motor vehicles and possess utensils or pipes, to face Southport Magistrates Court on February 2.

Following investigations police also arrested a 20-year-old Coomera man in connection with the incident. He has since been charged with three counts of enter premises and commit indictable offence and two counts of unlawful use of motor vehicles. He was due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
