Gold Coast firefighters were called back to the scene of a major blaze on Thursday morning.
Nine fire crews originally attended the vegetation fire between Balitmore Court and Palm Meadows Drive in Carrara on Wednesday at around 3.45pm.
The rural fire brigade were on scene and ensured the blaze did not reach nearby homes and crews were able to extinguish the fire, leaving the scene at around 10pm.
However, one crew was called back to the scene at 4am due to logs burning in a blackened area.
A Queensland Fire spokesperson said the crew would remain on site until around 3pm on Thursday afternoon to patrol the area.
They confirmed the fire was out and there was no danger to residents.
Local resident Kate Forrester said the blaze was “pretty big” and her back yard was filled with smoke.
“We noticed it about an hour ago,” Ms Forrester said, speaking shortly before 5pm. “The first fire engine came then but it must have got out of control.
“It’s getting pretty big now and there’s a lot of dry grass so it’ll be hard to get under control quickly.
“My whole back yard is filled with smoke”.

The fire service advised residents of Carrara, Nerang, Merrimac and surrounding areas to remain indoors and keep their windows and doors shut while the blaze was brought under control.
It was understood the blaze was the latest incident in an area where grass fires have appeared intermittently in recent weeks, with firefighters also putting out a blaze at the scene on Monday last week.
