Police are appealing for help to solve a number of alleged crimes across the Gold Coast. Anyone with information about the incidents below is asked to call Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 quoting the reference numbers provided.

There’s an old joke about escalators. It goes like this: “What happens to an escalator when it stops working? Nothing, it just stairs.”

However police on the Gold Coast are not seeing a funny side in the case of damage to an escalator at Pacific Fair last week.

Instead, they are taking steps to find the man pictured above, who they allege caused $1000 worth of damage to a protective guard on the device on August 23.

Anyone with information is asked to go next level and contact police.

Officers allege that at approximately 10.30am on August 24 the man left a store without attempting to pay for a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses valued at $288.
