A dad-of-seven left a friend with fractures to the head after hitting him with an unknown implement outside of a notorious Gold Coast hotel.

A dad-of-seven left a friend with fractures to the head after hitting him with an unknown implement outside of a notorious Gold Coast hotel.

Lucas Ryle Mollone walked from Southport Magistrates Court on parole on Tuesday after being sentenced to nine months’ prison.

The 39-year-old was also ordered to pay $1000 in compensation to the victim.

Magistrate Gary Finger told him: “You can’t just take these matters into your own hands.”

The court was told Mollone went to the Grand Hotel in Labrador on April 30 last year to have drink with two friends.

When they left about 3am they got into a verbal argument in the street.

That argument turned physical and during the fight Mollone got into his car.

He pulled up near the victim, who looked into the car.

That is when Mollone hit him with an unknown implement.

The victim suffered multiple fractures to his head.

Defence lawyer Demi Quadrio, of Gatenby Criminal Lawyers, said Mollone had a lot of responsibility as a father to seven children aged between nine and 21.

She said Mollone had worked as a painter until he lost his licence in February last year.
