Police are becoming increasingly concerned for a mother and her four-year-old son who have been missing for almost 48 hours after a “disturbance with her ex-partner” at a Gold Coast home.

It is the second time Jessica Mostyn has gone missing this year.

She has no car and no phone.

A massive search was launched on Saturday afternoon after Ms Mostyn and her four-year-old son walked away from a Labrador home about 4.30pm.

Gold Coast Vulnerable Persons Group Detective Acting Inspector Greg Aubort said that Ms Mostyn and her son left the Labrador home after a “disturbance with her ex-partner”.

He said the disturbance was verbal.

“The details of this are concerning – it’s out of character,” he said.

“We just want a level of comfort to locate the woman Jessica, and her son.”

Det Insp Aubort said Ms Mostyn had no car and no phone.

“It’s possible she will contact members of the public and seek assistance in that regard,” he said.

“We’re reaching out to anybody in the community that has any contact with Jessica or her son to come forward and let us know.”

Det Insp Aubort said there was no evidence of any direct threat towards the boy.

“The details are such that Jessica might be in a state that she’s elevated or upset,” he said.

“We don’t want her to be in a case where she feels the need to hide.

“We would just like her to know that everyone out there including her family and friends are concerned for her welfare.”

He urged Jessica to contact a friend or family member or police.

“Jessica is unlikely to see this message, but if she does I want her to know she is not in trouble and we just want to check on her and her son to make sure they are okay,” Acting Det Insp Aubort said.

“She is urged to come forward to a hospital or police station for help and I know our community here will guide her appropriately if she approaches them.

“Members of the public could discreetly call police upon an interaction with her, or begin a conversation about accessing help if they felt comfortable – stressing the point that she is not in trouble and help is available to her.”

Jessica, 32, has a recently shaved head and is about 164cm tall with a medium build.

She was last seen wearing a blue hoodie with maroon sweat pants.

Her son has blonde hair and blue eyes and was last seen wearing blue and orange shorts with no shirt or shoes.

Det Insp Aubort said police did not believe Ms Mostyn had a change of clothes with her.

He said Ms Mostyn was known to spend a lot of time in the Labrador area but she has friends in Brisbane.

Ms Mostyn has also been known to head to the northern New South Wales area as well.

She was reported missing at the end of January but was found within 48 hours.

Det Insp Aubort stressed police just wanted to check on her welfare.
