Horizon Yacht Australia: Surging demand for fleet beyond 2021

A Sanctuary Cove-based firm netted more than $150m in sales last year, largely attributed to its new yacht series. Here’s why the ultra rich can’t get enough of it.

The team behind a Gold Coast yacht company hopes surging demand for its fleet will deliver another stellar twelve months after netting more than $150m in sales last year.

Horizon Yacht Australia’s managing director Mark Western says 2021 will be remembered as a “record breaking” year for the Sanctuary Cove-based firm.

More than 14 new vessels, three stock boats and 45 brokerage boats sold.

It was the first company to record a sale at last year’s Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in May – for $12.9 m.

Mr Western said the sales boost was largely attributed to its new Horizon FD series, ranging between 75 to 125-feet long. Production is fully booked until early 2023.

“They are so spacious and offer all the features of a much larger boat, but with lower running costs and the ability to operate single-handed,” Mr Western said.

Models can house an on-deck master room, four double cabins and an additional two or three crew cabins.

He said customers were drawn to the option of customising their vessel: “Our owners appreciate the flexibility and degree of customisation. Being factory owned has made buyers feel a lot more confident in the Horizon brand.”
