A Gold Coast teenager was allegedly caught with 3kg of meth in his car, which police claim could be tied to a cross-border drug syndicate. FULL DETAILS

Detectives from Gold Coast Major and Organised Crime Squad (MOCS) have charged a 17-year-old male after 3kg of methylamphetamine were allegedly located in a vehicle at Surfers Paradise on April 4.

A Gold Coast teenager has been charged with several offences after police allegedly discovered 3kg of methamphetamines in his car.

Police claim they intercepted the 17-year-old’s Toyota Corolla on the Gold Coast Highway at Remembrance Drive at about 8pm on April 4.

It is alleged officers found three 1kg packages of meth stashed in a duffel bag inside the car.

The Biggera Waters teenager has since been charged with one count each of possessing dangerous drugs and possessing things used in the commission of a drug offence.

He is due to appear in Southport Childrens Court in the near future.

Police say the arrest forms part of an ongoing joint investigation with the New South Wales Police Force, targeting an alleged cross-border drug syndicate.

A 26-year-old man was also charged this week after police stopped a car allegedly carrying 20kg of meth at Nabiac, which was believed to be travelling to Queensland.

Major Organised Crime Squad Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Nigel Bull said the arrests came after extensive collaborative investigations by Queensland and NSW police.

“We will continue to target criminal networks and dismantle syndicates to take these harmful and prohibited drugs off our streets,” Acting Detective Snr Sgt Bull said.

“We urge anyone with information in regards to drugs in our community to come forward.”
