Angela Rose Cannon caught with the drug ice, a telescopic baton and a flick knife in Gold Coast police raid

The daughter of a man once described as a powerful Finks speed baron has been busted with an array of illicit items.

Who’s who in the bikie underworld?

The daughter of a man once described as a Finks speed baron has been caught with about a gram of the drug ice, a telescopic baton and a flick knife.

Angela Rose Cannon pleaded guilty in the Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday to possessing drugs, possessing utensils and possessing weapons.

The 43-year-old is the daughter of Charlie Cannon, a former Finks bikie previously convicted and jailed for 13 years over a $4.2m speed business.

The court was told on Tuesday that Angela Cannon had a drug addiction she was trying to address.

Prosecutor Gavin Reece told the court police raided Cannon’s Gold Coast home on February 10 where they found about a gram of the drug ice on her bedside table.

On the same bedside table they found the telescopic baton and an ice pipe.

A flick knife was found in her handbag.

Mr Reece said Cannon had a four-page criminal history which included a number of drug offences. He said this was her first weapons offence.

Defence lawyer Campbell MacCallum, of Moloney MacCallum Lawyers, said Cannon was unaware the weapons were illegal.

“Ironically, they are available and were brought by Ms Cannon from a tobacconist,” he said.

Mr MacCallum said the weapons were purchased for protection from an ex-partner.

He told the court that Cannon had a significant drug addiction that she did recognise she needed to address.

He also noted that the penalties for the offending had been decreasing, indicating her offending was becoming less serious.

Magistrate Joan White fined Cannon $600.

“You seem to have come to realise what you need to do and you have taken those steps,” she said.

Convictions were recorded.

Angela Cannon’s father was once a powerful figure in the gangland world, laundering cash in his 30s through a gym and negotiating with Calabrian mafia, News Corp previously published.

He was bankrupted in 1999 for tax but responded with a secretive, multimillion-dollar amphetamines network.

Cannon had no bank account or credit card and all visible assets were held by family.

He offered one from his network a $100,000 master class in speed manufacture.

Before his arrest, Cannon was on the verge of going “straight”, sharking loans and hatching investments with a corrupt lawyer.

For his share of a Gold Coast pub, Cannon produced a sports bag with $300,000 cash. When the pub failed, he told the hotelier he would murder him.

He quietly threatened a developer over a deal by revealing a handgun in his belt and telling him: “If you go to the police, you won’t be walking around tomorrow.”

In 2015, two of Charlie Cannon’s yachts seized by the government sold for $550,000 – a fraction of the $26m authorities were originally looking to recoup.

In February this year, Cannon was fined $500 after pleading guilty to threatening violence and common assault. He had threatened a former partner to “smash your head through the f***ing wall”.
