Police are investigating an attempted arson attack after two unknown people reportedly poured fuel at the entry of a Gold Coast home, before setting it alight and running off into the night on Saturday.
“Police are investigating an attempted arson incident at an address in Main Beach last night, December 28,” a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said.
“Initial investigations indicate, about 11.25pm two unknown offenders has attempted to gain entry to an address on Hughes Avenue before pouring an accelerant at the entry of the property and lighting it on fire.
“The two unknown persons has then fled on foot and the fire was extinguished before there was any significant damage to the building.
“No one was injured during the incident.”
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing, and they are appealing to the community for anyone who might have seen anything or might have CCTV footage.
One fire crew was called to assist police in extinguishing the blaze, a Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said.
Though the fire was already out by the time the fire crew arrived, they helped dampen the blaze further and ensure the scene was safe before the investigation commenced.
