‘Pain in the a**’: Milk truck stolen on Pako back up and running

A local milk delivery business owner has got his milk truck back up and running after it was stolen earlier this month, but the bill for his replacement rental has him less than a-moo-sed.

A milk truck that was stolen during a delivery in Geelong West earlier this month is finally back in business but the saga has taken it’s toll.

Sungold Geelong and Surf Coast owner Matt Nolan had his refrigerated truck stolen during a routine drop-off at Queen of the West hotel on Pakington St about 3.30am on July 9.

While the truck was tracked down later that day, Mr Nolan said it took until last Friday for the vehicle to be back up and operational.

“It was found the night after it was stolen,” Mr Nolan said,

“They reckon the guys have gone through it looking for a tracker, they didn’t find one so they made off with some random stuff from the truck.”

Mr Nolan said the truck was found by police on the other side of town from where it was taken and had been treated poorly.

“They drove it like they stole it,” he said.

“They reversed it into something, clipped the corner and smashed up the body.

“We’ve just done a bit of a patch-up job and gone through the mechanics and had a good once over and it seems to be going all right.”

The theft has been a costly affair for Mr Nolan and his business, with insurance not covering the cost of the replacement rental vehicle they were forced to use while getting the truck back up and going.

“It was about 700 bucks a week,” Mr Nolan said.

“Insurance only covers up to about four and a half tonnes for replacement vehicles.”

MR Nolan said those who stole the vehicle remain at large.

“They took finger prints and they weren’t able to pull anything,” he said.

“Last I heard they wanted to try and go through some security footage from around Pako, but I don’t know if they really got anything out of that or pursued it too hard.”

“It’s all a bit of a pain in the a---”

Victoria Police were contacted for comment.
