A man who suffered horrific burns in a fiery Geelong blaze last week has died from his injuries.
A coroner’s report is being prepared following the 29-year-old’s sad passing at the Alfred on Monday.
He was flown to the Melbourne hospital’s burns unit with severe injuries on September 14 after a house caught fire in Corio.
A front room inside the single-storey brick property could be seen gutted and blackened following the incident.
A police spokeswoman told the Geelong Advertiser on Tuesday the man’s death was not being treated as suspicious.
“The 29-year-old man passed away in hospital following the incident in Vermont Ave just before midday,” she said.
One resident, who witnessed the tragic event, said he saw the man lying on a footpath with severe burns.
“I thought he was dead,” he said at the time.
Witnesses reported seeing a red jerry on the front lawn of the house, while two trees in the driveway were also badly burnt.
