A Corio father of four is being remembered as a “loyal mate” with a “beautiful heart” after a horror crash in central Victoria.

Jamie Campbell, 35, died after his motorcycle and a car collided on Bacchus Marsh Rd in Gisborne last month.

Mr Campbell’s sister, Kate Campbell, said her younger brother was a hard worker with a beautiful heart.

“He would do anything for anyone,” she said.

“He was always the first to lend a hand, no matter the day or time.

“It didn’t matter who needed him, he would be there.

“He had a heart of gold and he was such a loyal mate.”

Mr Campbell had been visiting friends in Bendigo, where he is originally from, and was travelling home to Geelong when the crash occurred soon after 6am.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate the collision.

Ms Campbell said officers arrived at their mother Tracy’s house a few hours after the collision to deliver the devastating news.

“I was on my way to work when (my mum) called me,” she said.

“I turned around on the highway and went straight to her place.

“We are taking it day by day … we have never had a close family member pass and I hadn’t ever been to a funeral in my life.

“(His kids) don’t know how to process this because they are so young.”

Ms Campbell said her brother had a passion for motorcycles, cars and BMX bikes since he was young.

She said he loved to collect and tinker with old bike parts.

“Sadly the crash happened on a moped that he had put together himself,” she said.

Mr Campbell’s sudden death has shocked his family and friends who are rallying to support his children.

“It has made us realise how precious and unpredictable life is,” Ms Campbell said.

“Nobody is promised tomorrow.

“In the blink of an eye, everything can be turned upside down.”

Mr Campbell was farewelled at a funeral this month which was attended by about 100 mourners.

He is survived by his four children Ashanti, 12, Dante, 11, Montelle, 9, and Tyrone, 9.
