CCTV footage shows man allegedly steal e-scooter in Ocean Grove
A grown man has allegedly been caught red-handed on security footage stealing a heartbroken teen’s beloved scooter in Ocean Grove.
A man has been caught on security footage brazenly stealing a teenager’s e-scooter in Ocean Grove.
Mother-of-two Emma Lehman says her distraught daughter “cried herself to sleep for two nights” following the incident, and has pleaded with the alleged assailant to return it.
The e-scooter, valued at almost $2000, was nabbed by the heartless thief near a popular shopping centre in the Bellarine Peninsula town.
It’s alleged the man stole the e-scooter from Cheviot Terrace at Kingston Village on Wednesday, October 8, at about 5.10pm.
“Riding his own bike he sees my daughter leave and lock her scooter and within minutes steals and hides it in the loading bay next door,” she said.
“We are just so grateful there wasn’t a confrontation between my daughter and him.
“She has been very upset, it’s quite traumatic for the kids.”
Police are investigating the incident, alleged to have occurred next to Jetts.
It’s understood the man, travelling on a mountain bike, dumped it behind the gym before returning to collect the loot from the loading bay.
He is described as in his late 50s, or early 60s, and was wearing dark pants, a green jacket and a backpack at the time.
