Four people have been taken to hospital after a multi-vehicle crash at Helensvale.

Emergency services were called to the scene exit 62 after four cars collided about 4.15am on Monday.

One person was trapped inside their car after it flipped due to the impact of the crash.

A Queensland Ambulance Services spokeswoman confirmed five people were assessed by paramedics at the scene.

Four patients were taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition and another declined transport to hospital for further treatment.

The crash caused significant traffic delays for morning commuters with two southbound lanes closed as emergency crews worked at the scene.

Lanes were reopened about 6am but traffic was reportedly at a standstill at Oxenford about 7am.
