A rising Townsville OnlyFans star has given a rare and raw look at her life behind the lens, dealing with the negative stigma attached to her career choice.

OnlyFans thrived during the pandemic, with Townsville boasting some of its top contributors, including the likes of global adult film star Savannah Bond.

With more than 85 million registered users worldwide, the subscription-based platform has allowed everyday people to make a solid living from the comfort of their homes.

Aitkenvale resident Cora Collins said she joined OnlyFans just as Covid-19 hit in 2020.

Before the pandemic, Cora was working as a stripper and topless waitress and using Instagram to sell her content on the side.

“It was interesting to see during the pandemic how OnlyFans blew up because you’d only really see sex workers, dancers and cam girls doing that, and then the next thing you know, everyone’s doing it,” she said.

The 23-year-old says her OnlyFans account is now doing well enough for her to rely on it as her main source of income.

“I don’t like talking about money, but I’m definitely comfortable,” she said.

“OnlyFans is a big opportunity for people to make money, but the biggest misconception is that it’s easy.

“People think all you do is sit in a room and take pictures of your p**** all day, and that’s it, but a lot of work goes into this. You have to treat it like it’s your own business.

OnlyFans online boom

“No one’s just going to spend money on you because you’re pretty.

You must post regularly, put the time in and find your niche. For example, my trademark is my green hair, and I have tattoos and more of an alternative style.”

“It’s all very performative and creative.

“I do shoots and take hundreds of new pictures every week. I like to incorporate different themes to keep it interesting.

“I also want to do more videos with other girls, and you have to plan and storyboard all that.”

Ms Collins said she charges her subscribers $10 a month — about the same price as a monthly streaming subscription.

“It’s better to have more people paying less than fewer people paying more,” she said.

“They’re more likely to stay, resubscribe and send money if it’s affordable.

“I also sell my underwear to some subscribers, which is fun.”

Ms Collins said she still faced a lot of stigmas and shaming regarding her career choice.

“The most annoying thing is the stigma online,” she said. “People assume I have daddy issues or say go find a real job, but I’ve learned to make a joke out of it.

“My mum has always been pretty open-minded, and most of my family knows what I do, but I don’t really care.”
