Empire Theatres announces cast for production of award-winning musical Come From Away
Empire Theatres has revealed its cast for their 2025 major production, set to feature an impressive line-up of 21 local performers taking on an award-winning Broadway musical.

Empire Theatres has unveiled its cast for their production of the globally celebrated musical Come From Away, with shows set to begin in March.
The award-winning musical tells the remarkable true story of 7000 stranded airline passengers who were welcomed by a small Newfoundland community after US airspace was closed in the wake of 9/11.
Diana Holt, who audiences will remember from her performance as Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia, was announced as part of the line-up featuring 21 local performers.
Country music artist Melanie Martin, whose debut albumOur Way produced two Australian top 10 Country singles, and Jon Maskell, who audiences will remember for his performance in The Empire’sThe Phantom of the Opera, have also been announced as part of the cast.
Newfoundland expat Karen Rock will also be making her Empire Theatre debut.
Director David Wynen said he was “excited” about the production and for Toowoomba audiences to see the musical.
“This show is members of the Toowoomba community telling the true story of the Gander community and how the people there stepped up in a time of tragedy and crisis,” he said.
Empire Theatre general manager Giuliana Bonel said she was thrilled to finally reveal the cast after an extensive audition process.
“Come From Away is a remarkable story and I look forward to seeing the skill, energy and passion of this dynamic group as they all bring something unique to the production,” she said.
