Woman injured in head-on crash on Bruce Highway at Owanyilla

A car fire closed the Bruce Highway after a head-on crash near Maryborough.

Emergency service crews raced to the scene of a car fire after a head-on collision on the Bruce Highway near Maryborough on Tuesday night.

A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said the two-car crash happened about 8.55pm at Owanyilla at the intersection of the Old Bruce Highway.

Along with police and paramedics, a fire crew also attended the scene to extinguish the flames, she said.

The people involved were able to remove themselves from the car.

A woman was treated for neck and chest pain after the crash before being transported to Hervey Bay Hospital.

A second person declined transport.

The highway reopened about 10pm.
