A woman has been charged with a string of offences after a stolen car mounted a Brisbane footpath and hit an e-scooter rider, police allege.

The woman, a 38-year-old from Pimpama, is accused of driving a stolen Mitsubishi ASX when it allegedly mounted the footpath at Shafston Ave, near Wellington Road in East Brisbane, and hit the 51-year-old rider.

The rider was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

The 38-year-old woman was taken into custody at the scene and allegedly returned a positive reading for drugs.

She has been charged with one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, drug driving while unlicensed, driving without a license, possession of drug utensils and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Following the incident, the Mitsubishi ASX that she was driving was reported as stolen from an Everton Park address, police said.

The woman will appear before Brisbane Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
