A man has suffered serious head, chest and leg injuries after an accident involving a car and a bicycle in Brisbane’s inner east.

A man is in a serious condition after a car and bicycle collided in Brisbane’s inner east.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said paramedics were assessing a man with serious head, chest and leg injuries.

He was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The crash occurred on Shaftston Ave at East Brisbane about 8.45am.

Police have closed one lane inbound on Shafton Ave and Wellington Road is also affected.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area and follow any traffic directions.
