A family has escaped injury after an out-of-control ute hit a power pole then ploughed into their home in Roma on Sunday night.

Police were called to the scene on Koy Rd about 8pm to find two people in the ute, which had slammed into the loungeroom wall of the brick house.

The crash caused power to be cut to the street.

A witness told The Courier-Mail a man and woman were in the ute at the time and remained at the scene until emergency services arrived.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews attended and made the scene safe.

It is not known whether the driver will be charged by police.

The witness, who lives nearby, said she heard a massive bang before the power went out.

“You could tell it was an accident from the sound,” the witness said.

“It (the car) hit the pole and flipped around into the house, straight into the people’s lounge room.”
