Slacks Creek fire: 17 crews attend scene at computer store

Police are looking to speak with two men after a fire in Brisbane’s south yesterday, one of two blazes to happen in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Police are seeking public assistance to identify two men they say may have information about a fire that took hold of a Brisbane south cafe yesterday.

According to police, two people smashed the glass door of a Stone’s Corner cafe with a hammer yesterday morning, before spreading accelerant and lighting a fire.

Vision has been released of two men who were seen leaving the cafe and heading along Logan Rd toward the city in a white Hyundai i30.

Police have asked anyone who may have information on the men or the incident to come forward.

QFES were called to the fire on Logan Rd just before 5am and had it contained by 5.12am.

Police declared a crime scene and remain on site to divert traffic and have urged motorists to avoid the area.

Meanwhile, 17 fire crews were called to the scene of a fire, understood to be unrelated, which took hold of a computer shop in Slacks Creek the same day.

At 2.13am QFES crews were called to a fire on Randall St and Kingston Rd, Slacks Creek, after reports of large amounts of smoke coming from computer store MSY Technology.

The fire was under control by 4am, after teams tackled the blaze both internally and externally.

Police declared the fire suspicious and are assisting QFES with investigations.

Seven fire crews remain on the scene to make the area safe.

QFES Firefighter Stephen Johnstone said the fire escalated quickly.
