A school bus driver has been praised for her efforts in avoiding what could have been a serious crash, after a bus carrying children collided with a car.

The driver of a school bus that was carrying children when it collided with a car in wet weather on the Fraser Coast has been praised for her efforts.

The crash happened on Doolong South Rd at Nikenbah about 8am Tuesday morning, a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said.

It was understood there were no injuries.

A Goddard’s Buses spokesman said the driver did a great job at handling the situation.

“She saw that the accident was sort of evolving, and the bus was almost stationary when the collision happened,” he said.

The spokesman said the bus was carrying about 10 students at the time, and also praised the children for the way they behaved given the conditions.

He also thanked emergency services and schools for their support.

Speaking to a reporter at the scene, Senior Constable Cara Wessels confirmed there were children on the bus at the time of the crash, but there were no injuries.

Constable Wessels said wet weather and oil on the road may have played a part in causing the crash.

She said it appeared the car was coming down the hill while the bus was coming around the corner when the crash happened.

The driver of the car was a teenage girl, constable Wessels said, who was also not injured.
