A house has been destroyed after a fire broke out with firefighters unable to do a secondary check due to the roof collapsing.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said firefighters received the call about the fire on Monmouth St, Morningside, about 1.30pm.

The house was well engulfed in flames but the main fire was extinguished about 2.20pm as they worked on putting out the hot spots.

She said firefighters were still unable to do a secondary check as of 3.45pm because of the roof.

Seven trucks were initially called to the scene.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said paramedics were still on scene providing support to QFES but there were no reports of any injuries or anyone inside.
