Firefighters have attended a reported burn-off on the Western Downs despite a fire ban being in place after recent suspicious blazes.

They visited a Tara property soon after 7pm on Tuesday, monitoring multiple piles that were reportedly ablaze.

Queensland Fire and Emerency Services announced on Tuesday night that from midnight the fire ban would be extended another two weeks to ensure Western Downs residents’ safety.

Residents were forced to leave their homes when two recent blazes burnt over 4000ha in the region.

Police investigators later declared the fire suspicious.

QFES remained at the private residence on Tuesday night to work with the landowners and ensure the area was safe.
