An allegedly armed man who caused the lockdown of a Logan Central street was taken into custody on Wednesday night after a four-hour negotiation.
A police spokesman said the man was taken into custody at 7.20pm but could not confirm what weapon the man was allegedly armed with.
It could not be confirmed if there was anyone inside the property with the man, however initial information indicated he may have been alone.
The incident started at an address in Garfield Rd just before 5pm, with police responding to reports of a disturbance.
Early Thursday morning, the man remained in police custody at Logan Hospital. No charges have been laid.
Witnesses in the area said they heard screaming and tyres screeching at the address in the hours before police arrived.
A police spokesman said specialist officers were negotiating with an armed man and had closed the road between Connor St and Charles Ave.
Region Duty Officer Inspector Laurie Shevlin said police were not concerned about a wider danger to the public.
“We’re just exercising caution as if people stay away from the area it allows us to do our job,” he told 9 News.
