Six people have been caught up in a crash involving multiple vehicles at a major Sunshine Coast intersection and, in a separate incident, a man in his 80s remains in hospital after being hit by a car.
Police said the multiple-vehicle crash happened just after 8pm on Sunday at the intersection near Coronation Ave, National Park Road and Bli Bli Road, near Sunshine Toyota at Nambour.
Queensland Ambulance Service said a man in his 30s suffered chest injuries in the four-vehicle crash and was taken to Nambour Hospital in a stable condition, while a woman in her 30s had chest and abdominal injuries and was also taken to hospital.
A teenager with facial and arm injuries was also taken to nearby Nambour Hospital.
Another boy in his late teens was uninjured and did not require hospital treatment, while a man in his 50s also escaped injury.
Police said they were continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash that involved a Holden Commodore, Holden Colorado, and a Mazda 6.
Locals on social media described it as a ‘hit and run’ with police allegedly nabbing two youths.
But police said it was not being treated as a hit and run though investigations were continuing to see what may have caused the collision.
“I reckon I heard the crash from my back yard in Rosemount!,’’ one local said.
Meanwhile, one person was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital after a vehicle rollover at Aroona on Beerburrum St and Messines Rd just before midnight.
A man in his 80s was also transported to SCUH on Sunday afternoon after he was hit by a car on the corner of Minchinton St and Bulcock St at about 4.20pm.
A QAS spokeswoman said the man suffered suspected pelvic injuries and was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
A SCUH spokeswoman confirmed on Monday afternoon the man remained in hospital in a serious condition.
Police said the forensic crash unit was investigating the incident.
