Teenager killed as Mount Lindesay Hwy at Cedar Vale closed after horror two-vehicle crash

A teenager has been killed and his father seriously hurt in a horror Father’s Day crash near Brisbane, while, a boy is fighting for life after a motorcycle crash on the Sunshine Coast.

A 19-year-old has died in a car crash and his dad has been seriously injured in a Father’s Day tragedy near Brisbane.

In a horror day on the state’s roads, multiple other people were taken to hospital in a critical condition including a boy.

Police said the 19-year-old driving a Mitsubishi Triton died after his vehicle collided with a Toyota Landcruiser on the Mount Lindesay Highway at Cedar Vale, south of Brisbane, about 11am on Sunday.

His father, a 54-year-old, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

An off-duty paramedic came to the teen’s aid and gave medical assistance but he died at the scene.

A man driving the other vehicle, a 56-year-old, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries while a woman, 53, was also seriously injured. They were both flown to hospital.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said that initially four people were trapped in the wreckage.

In a separate crash at Kenilworth, in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, a primary school aged boy was critically injured after a motorcycle crash.

The crashed happened at Pullen Lane and Kenilworth Brooloo Rd about 1:40pm.

Critical care paramedics treated the boy who had head injuries and he was flown to Queensland Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.

In another horror crash, two motorcycles collided at Tamborine on Sunday morning, leaving both riders in a serious condition.

Paramedics were called to Waterford Tambourine Rd just before 9am.

A man in his 50s was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition with leg injuries. A critical care paramedic accompanied him.

A woman in her 60s was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital also in a serious condition with leg and arm injuries.

Crash investigators are working to determine the circumstances of the crash.

Before the crashes at the weekend Queensland’s official road toll up to Friday was 188 deaths, compared to 170 at the same time last year.
